Windows NOTEPAD bug
This is really really weird... If you are working on a Windows system, try this out:
- Open an empty notepad file
- Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
- Save it as whatever you want.
- Close it, and re-open it.
Try another sentence "this app can break". Make sure you have to start with a new file and then type in the sentence. Copy paste won't help.
I'm not sure how many more such "magic" words do exist. I'm sure there would be many more such combination of words or sentences. May be a pattern can emerge from all such notepad breaking sentences...... Huh!

Football, WorldCup, Girls And Bihar
How do they all relate? The news item from BBC says
"The girls of Barauni village in Begusarai district eat, drink and sleep football and stay up all night to catch their favourite teams at the World Cup on television.
The girls of Barauni are not only mad about football, they also play the game with a lot of passion - three girls from the village have played in the national women's team, and seven others have been in the state team."
Read here for more. Way to go for Indian football, but such is the beauty of this game.

Dont sing Jhalak Dikhla Jaa
Last evening i watched a news item at Aaj Tak channel about a village where people are afraid of singing the latest chartbuster from Himesh Reshammaiya, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa song from the movie Aksar.
Why? Click here.
It seems the village ghosts take possession of whosoever sings the song. Why do the ghosts have an affinity for this particular song? Great bong gives the answer for the ghost's fascination. Another great post from Great Bong....

BSNL Telephone bills online
If you want to view your BSNL telephone bills online, follow the steps as mentioned below:
1. Go to http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/onlinebilling.htm
2. Select the city where you live.
3. For Bangalore, it would take you to the BSNL Bangalore site.
4. Click Phone bills online link on the left part of the page. Alternately the link is http://210.212.204.4:3307/login.jsp . This looks like a direct HTTP access to BSNL's Bill Presentment and Payment Server.
5. Enter your consumer no. Typically it would be printed on any of the bills that you have. Its a 8 digit no.
6. You could also register yourself one time and then subsequently use your userid/password account.
7. On clicking Submit, this would show you the latest bill.
8. It also allows you to make the Payment, but i haven't tried that.
I found this link to be far better than getting through their Customer Service numbers.

My Best Friend's Wedding
Finally Andy a.k.a Anand Krishnan got married on 18th/19th Jan, 2006. We had been planning for his marriage for quite a long time (not that we were looking out for bride for him). It all began with a nice wedding invite mail from Andy as follows:
"All,
From the cradle to the grave there is one interception point..where in a person's quest in life he must go through. A part where one departs from essentially the best part of his life, "Bachelorhood" (as most men would agree, and guess what the reason is - "For a Better tomorrow". Ironically the feedback from the experienced ones was ruthlessly discouraging, people coming up to me and telling me boy that's a quick mistake, its madness, its a duty (duty.. gosh who do I report to?),But then I decided to jump into the pool ;(that's what someone refers to marriage) and settle down in life, be happy, content..etc etc
Nevertheless to cut it short , I have decided to take the plunge.
Thanks to the software industry, simply stating, for the benefits ofthose techies who find basic intelligence repulsive. "I am changing Platforms"
To those who appreciate basic communication
Yes ...
"I am getting married"
to Anuradha
in Trichur ( Kerala )
on 19th January 2006 .
It would be great , if you can come down with your family and wish/ bless us both on this momentous occasion. "
And thats it we started planning for his marriage. We booked tickets for train to Trichur and incidentally found that almost 30% of RPM team was travelling for his marriage. This shows how popular Andy is in the team. He must have got so much good wishes....Avni, Senthil & Shamshur also chipped in along with their family. It was a cracker of a journey with Avni getting seats alloted that didn't exist. Luckily there were few seats vacant where the male gang jamaoed mandli.
The baccha gang ( Arnab (Pyeush Jr.) and Adith (Senthil Jr.) ) gave a tough time to their parents especially the Dads. The pain part of the journey was getting down at Trichur @ midnight 3:00 AM. Poor guy Harish (Andy's brother) who had to stay awake till midnight came to receive us with a mini bus. All the lukkas :D were lodged in Bachelor's den. All couples were put up at Elite International Trichur. It's a nice hotel with a decent restaurant and a bar (with an exotic name Rubaith) that i didn't visit.
Anyways we slept for couple of hours and woke up to rush to the wedding venue @ the Trichur downtown temple. Everyone was at their ethnic and formal best with Ankur as usual topping the charts with his black sun glasses. I was so hungry that i ordered for breakfast at 6:30 AM. (Reason being you don't get dinner on Ernakulam express). Just try out there Bread Jam Toast & Cheese Omlette in case you happen to be there its heavenly.
Anyways we leisurely rushed up to the wedding venue to learn that there was no Aaj Tak team covering Sansanee (for uninitiated, Anuradha used to work as journalist at Aaj Tak). Here are few pics during the ceremony. It seems Andy decided to swing few rounds on the Jhula but after couple of swings, the jhula broke (Andy: aren't you using Ab King?)
The gang from Symphony occupied the last rows in the wedding hall enjoying Andy getting tutored by the priest on how to pronounce the mantras correctly (He really did a an exceelent job on that). Finally we all got introduced to the bride. Wish we could pose her the typical journalist's phrase "Aur aapko ab kaisa lag raha hai"?
Now was the time for elaborate South Indian traditional meal. Lunch was excellent and having had several servings we decided to rush to the hotel back to get some good sleep (we r so selfish!). Finally one gang left for Cochin for backwaters darshan, another gang left for Bangalore in the evening and we stayed back. I had planned earlier that its time for Yet Another Honeymoon and hence planned for a 2N/3D stay at Thekkady. Evening we strolled around Trichur downtown and did some shopping. I was quite impressed by Trichur town. Also in case you are looking for memory stick for your Digi Cam, you can find them at City Centre mall at Trichur.
Will follow up on the Thekkady trip in the next blog.
